Where&#8217;s the beef?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"top\" \/>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ok, it has been ages since I have written anything, and here is probably the least productive use of my efforts, but as they say in Germany &#8220;ich habe jetzt meine Schnauzevoll!&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 (Try google translator if you don&#8217;t understand.)<\/p>\n<p>I have been harping for years; that would be for almost 20, about the &#8216;big-box stores&#8217; and the absolute insanity of buying &#8216;stuff&#8217; because it is cheaper.<\/p>\n<p>Another great quote from my Grandfather:\u00a0 &#8220;Price without quality is no bargain.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Here is a great article that describes what happens when these operations take over :\u00a0 <a title=\"The Walmart you do not know\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/magazine\/77\/walmart.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Walmart you do not know<\/a>.\u00a0 Granted, I grew up in a time where there was a Mom and Pop grocery store; Kelsch&#8217;s Market, where there was the Post Office, Butcher shop, and Stationary Store in the same Building.\u00a0 Heck, my Mother&#8217;s family operated one in Creamery since the 1760&#8217;s, &#8220;Bean&#8217;s Store&#8221;.\u00a0 Google it, or &#8220;Hunsicker&#8217;s Store, Creamery.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Of\u00a0 course, there is always &#8216;economies of scale&#8217;, but there is also the rule of diminishing returns.\u00a0 One of the things that is diminished is the quality of life when small local businesses succumb to the pressures of a foreign corporation that manages to use their size to pressure suppliers into making decisions that in reality make no economic sense.\u00a0 (You did read the article didn&#8217;t you?\u00a0 If not, go back to &#8216;Go&#8217; and do NOT collect $200).<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, [I wrote this originally on the 10th of September], Mr. Obama announced his &#8216;plan&#8217;\u00a0 to &#8216;revitalise&#8217; American business.\u00a0 Sorry, but I am no longer required to blindly support the &#8216;Commander in Chief&#8217;&#8230;what his plan entails is nonsense.\u00a0 Only more debt for future generations.<\/p>\n<p>There is a reason that Germany is able to support all of its&#8217; &#8220;neighbours who are in need&#8221;.\u00a0 (Another time for this theme&#8230;)\u00a0 Simply because, until two years ago they were #1 in exports.\u00a0 For those of you a bit slow on the uptake, that means that Germany PRODUCED something for sale, that other people \/ countries needed, and paid for.\u00a0 Case in Point &#8220;Stanley.&#8221;<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\nngg_shortcode_1_placeholder\nngg_shortcode_2_placeholder\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Stanley is a company with a rich history that parallels the greatness of America.\u00a0 From tools, industrial and consumer goods (like those shown in the picture), they made things that industry, and people alike needed.\u00a0 Good business. Unfortunately, they received tax incentives to move their production &#8216;off-shore.&#8217;\u00a0 After developing and building a plant in Pennsylvania to build Vidmar Cabinets, they closed the plant, and moved production\u00a0 to a more &#8216;economically beneficial&#8217; location.\u00a0 <a title=\"Selling out the soul of America\" href=\"http:\/\/www.stanleyvidmar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Here<\/a> is the link to their site.\u00a0 Of course they play on the honour of America, and what they provide.\u00a0 Unfortunately, they do not include that they manufacture their products elsewhere&#8230; Check out the photos.<\/p>\n<p>Since there is currently a &#8216;discrepancy&#8217; with what 1 and 1 Internet will allocate for memory, the thumbnails may not work&#8230;until we subscribe to a premium service that is&#8230;A bit of advice:\u00a0 go with <a title=\"Better options for blogs.  Screw 1 and 1\" href=\"http:\/\/godaddy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">godaddy<\/a>, the heck with the hook-noses at 1 and 1.<\/p>\n<p>Where are they made?\u00a0 Is the price less???\u00a0 That would be a rhetorical question son, rhetorical.\u00a0 Look it up.<\/p>\n<p>Now, of course, Germany is #2.\u00a0 Who is #1?\u00a0\u00a0 If you do not know the answer, you dod not read the article.\u00a0&#8230;Go back to &#8220;GO&#8217;, and do not ask about the $200 again.\u00a0 Why is Germany #2?<\/p>\n<p>I recently had another round of this argument with my Daughter.\u00a0 She was ironing a shirt for her boyfriend, and it was noticed that the shirt was &#8220;Made in China&#8221;.\u00a0 When I commented that this was irresponsible, she responded, &#8221; if I had to pay for a shirt that was made in Germany, it would cost $50, not $15.&#8221;\u00a0 My response was simply, then you by one shirt, and leave the rest on the rack.\u00a0 Simple economics will bring the prices in order.\u00a0 However to do otherwise is not only socially, but fiscally imprudent.\u00a0 Does anyone know about <a title=\"Van Mises Institute\" href=\"http:\/\/mises.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ludwig Van Mises <\/a>?\u00a0 I know Ron Paul does.<\/p>\n<p>Jeepers, let&#8217;s get to the point.\u00a0 What America needs is Jobs, not jobs created from &#8216;thin air&#8217;, or from government subsidy; which means from the 25% that are not out of work taxpayer.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow, the corporations in America have managed to recieve tax-breaks to ship the biggest costs of production &#8216;off-shore.&#8217;\u00a0 Weeeelllll, it is time for\u00a0 the gravy train to end.<\/p>\n<p>So as a solution:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Not only eliminate tax loopholes\/ incentives for company&#8217;s that &#8216;off-shore&#8217;, but make tax penalties for doing so.<\/li>\n<li>There is no such thing as &#8216;most favoured Nations status&#8217; (Google it).\u00a0 Only one&#8217;s own country.<\/li>\n<li>Any corporation that makes its&#8217; profits on goods not produced in its&#8217; own country should also lose any tax incentives, but should also pay a penalty.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>These are not tariffs, and cannot be labeled as so.\u00a0 However, the fact that &#8216;bigger is better&#8217; is a myth.\u00a0 Just look at government.\u00a0 More later.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you wanting to learn more, I suggest you either google &#8220;Chuck Butler&#8221; or &#8221; the &#8221; <a title=\"Good stuff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dailypfennig.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Daily Pfennig<\/a>.&#8221;\u00a0 Good stuff.<\/p>\n<p>Pertinent to this writing is <a title=\"Thanks Chuck\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kitco.com\/ind\/Butler\/sep092011.html\" target=\"_blank\">this article<\/a> on Kitco.com<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Ok, it has been ages since I have written anything, and here is probably the least productive use of my efforts, but as they say in Germany &#8220;ich habe jetzt meine Schnauzevoll!&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 (Try google translator if you don&#8217;t understand.)
